Errol Flynn was here, and so are we

We had a great urban intro to Australia during our 6 days in Sydney, ending with a pretty cool experience - the Sydney open air theater. The movie screen actually sits in the bay, with the beautiful backdrop of downtown, the Opera House, and the Sydney Harbor Bridge:

The movie was "Her," a cute tale of love between a nerdy guy and a computer operating system; think of the "good" to the evil "HAL"  of 2001, A Space Odyssey.

Speaking of the harbor bridge, here's us at the top:

In contrast to the bustle of Sydney, Tassie (Tasmania to you Yanks) is slow, less complicated, fewer people, narrower roads. Our first destination was the Feycinet Peninsula north of Hobart, picking up local cheese and cherries on the way. This national park (one of many on this Ireland-sized island) is stunning, with pink granite, 2000-foot peaks jutting out of the sea. We did a rigorous, 7-mile hike over a pass to a couple beaches, sighting our first marsupial (wallaby) and a pod of porpoises.

We drove to Hobart yesterday, a picturesque city wedged between a stunning harbor and the sea. We explored our neighborhood do Sandy Bay and happened upon this park dedicated to that famous actor who was born not far from our apartment:
